New Project to Start – Reader’s Wrap

30 09 2008

This past Saturday I treated myself to a visit to a nearby yarn shop, Needler’s Nest in Surprise AZ.  Of course I was entralled with all the latest yarns - bamboo blends, soy blends, corn blends, sock yarns and all the wonderful new wools for the season.  As I was scouting out all the new yarns, I came across a pattern I couldn’t resist purchasing – yes I know, I did not have much resistance and like all you knitters, what’s one more pattern.

Anyway, the pattern I purchased is called a “Reader’s Wrap”, designed by Lisa Carnahan, aka Lisa’s Knits (www.lisaknits.com) . This pattern calls for 900 yards of Aran weight yarn using size 9 US needles.

I came across a wonderful varigated yarn that I had to have for this pattern by Universal Yarn, Inc called “Classic Worsted” (www.universalyarn.com) .  This is a blend of 80% acrylic and 20% wool, 197 yards/100 gram skein and the best thing about this yarn, it’s machine washable and dryable.  The color is Black Heather (color swatch to the left) and it’s perfect for my fall wardrobe.  The lady that was looking at yarn next too me highly recommended this yarn, so I look forward to seeing how it knits up and handles machine washing/drying.

This wrap will be great for chilly days outside, curled up on the couch knitting or reading and of course great for the office.  I can’t wait to get started!
