I just received my latest yarn samples from “Yarn of the Month Club“ . I absolutely love the Meru by Curious Creek Fibers which is a gorgeous hand-dyed Silk/Meri. This yarn is spun in Peru and hand-painted in the USA. This is a blend of 51% Wild Tussah Silk/49% Merino Wool – Lace weight, each hank is 495 yards/1.75 oz. (50 g). Suggested needle size is US 5. I located this particular yarn at www.woolgirl.com.
The second sample that intrigues me is Whisper by Aurora Yarns, which like the Meru, is a lace weight yarn. Aurora Yarns Whisper is laceweight 100% superfine Merino wool yarn – perfect for shawls and any openwork designs. Super soft, as you would expect from fine Merino yarn! This is 100% superfine Merino wool yarn -each hank is 1362 yards/100 g. Suggested needle is US 0. I located this yarn at www.knitty-noddy.com.
On another note, I just mailed off the finished neck scarf to my friend Michele. I truly hope that she likes it and that it keeps her warm during the winter months in Louisville KY. With that finished project behind me I am concentrating on knitting hats for the Ships Projects. I just received an email that states they mail hats during the first week of January. Hopefully I can get at least three hats in the mail for them to be sent over. I am using a 100% acrylic yarn by Filati Cervinia (made in Italty) called Sorrento in a warm toasty brown. This yarn is knitting up nicely using a US 7 16″ circular needle. My Dad contributed towards 5 balls of yarn for this project and has been requesting updates on the hats – guess I better get knitting instead of blogging.
