What’s a knitalong? “We define a knitalong as any event where people get together and knit for a common purpose. That could be as simple as a few friends meeting to chat and knit every week in a cafe or kitchen, or as complex as an Internet-driven collaboration for charity or art that involves thousands of people around the world.” — http://www.knitalong.net/ by Larissa Brown
A few weeks back I treated myself to a new knitting book, like I really needed another one, but couldn’t resist the title of “Knitalong” and was drawn to the book by the cover that depicts people knitting and sharing. This is a great read that includes 20 projects and I love their website at http://www.knitalong.net/ - they have projects, galleries and knitalong basics. I love knitalongs – it’s like sitting down by a fire and knitting with a bunch of your girlfriends. It’s amazing to me the number of knitters that knitalongs draw in and the number of friendships that are formed. It’s comforting to find the closeness in the knitting community and the sharing of ideas. I truly hope this concept never strays and that knitters will be forever adventuresome enough to try new yarns, new knitting ideas and patterns. It’s a great way to be in contact with others out there that have the passion and love of knitting.
Happy knitting to all and enjoy a knitalong in the new year, I know I am!
