A Trip to Needler’s Nest

16 02 2009

I almost forgot about my day at Needler’s Nest on Saturday and about the wonderful pattern I found buried in a dark corner.  I discovered a pattern by local knit designer Yumiko Alexander called Mountain Shades.  I love the simplicity of this design and it would be a perfect sweater to wear for a fall day or a drive to the Arizona high country.  I am trying to decide between the color used for this pattern, which is  Universal Yarns Classic Shades in #702 but I’m more drawn to #703.   I also discovered on the bottom shelf where all the sock yarn is kept, a 100% Superwash Wool (50 grams/220 yards)by Jojoland called Melody in color MS11 (a variegated yarn in light greens and purples) ~ this will make a great pair of socks.  This yarn is a fingering weight great for socks or lace using needle size US 1 – 3.

I am really excited about my purchases and my find ~ can’t wait to get started, which will be right after the pair of socks I’m knitting.  Doesn’t that just sound like a typical knitter!  Hmmm…. I might end up with two projects going at once because this pattern is really calling me.

Happy knitting everyone!
