I just purchased Glenna’s Viper Pilot Socks off Ravelry and I have to truly promote this pattern. This is the most unique sock pattern I’ve seen in a very long time and I simply can’t wait to give her pattern a try.
When I see the finished socks (photo to the left ~ from Glenna C ‘s website), I close my eyes and visualize Apollo and Starbuck taking off in their vipers and going through the launch tube of the Battlestar Galatica. Way to go Glenna, your imagine is totally captured in your sock pattern! I need to go my LYS and buy yarn for this project ~ sounds like the perfect thing to do on my lunch hour tomorrow.
Happy knitting and be sure to check out Glenna’s website!
I burst out into laughter last night when my husband told me it looked like I had quite a bit of yarn ~ quite a bit, I think not because there is simply never not enough yarn in ones stash, would you not agree?
Stashing yarn is like nesting to a bird. The more soft, warm, luxurious yarns in a variety of fibers and colors you can stash, the better your “nest” will be. You must be surrounded by fibers of all types and colors to inspire your inner knitter ~ that part of you that yearns to be set free to design all those ideas into something out of this world created by you and the fiber that surrounds you. I feel guilty at the thought of buying more to add to my already full stash, but there are so many new yarns to inspire you, so many new colors to tempt you, and besides, when you go to your local yarn store, do you ever leave empty handed?
Let’s face it, you need always need to keep sock yarn on hand for those in between projects, wool yarns for warm hats and scarves for charity work and of course friends and family and cotton yarns for when summer is suddenly here (84 degrees today in Phoenix), all the odds and ends that you simply can’t part with that might be put to good use one day.
So when my hubby tells me ever so sweetly that I appear to have enough yarn, I in turn tell him in my most favorite movie quote ” I think not baby puppy!” (Cats and Dogs, 2001).
Happy Knitting y’all!
Don’t you just love it when you come home to find a package on your front porch and a big smile creeps across your face and your eyes sparkle as you survey what was left for you to take inside. Of course why wouldn’t you be smiling, you just received another shipment of “yarn”! My hubby always tells me I’m worse than a kid in a candy store when it comes to yarn.
I was thrilled to see my package from the Yarn Market on my doorstep last night and quickly opened it to check out my skeins of Aslantrends Yarn in Artesanal in the colors of Terracotta and Rafia. I simply can’t wait to get my project started for their contest. I will be doing a scarf in a mix of cables using both colors ~ hopefully it will turn out just like I want it too.
Happy knitting!
P.S. It was a lovely day in Phoenix at 90 degrees ~ and it’s only March!
After four days, I’ve finished my “Big Bamboo” scarf and realized I simply do not like it. Hmmmm…..
Do you ever have knitting “doldrums”? I think that has been my problem the last few days, which I mainly think is from the fact I’m not doing what I want when it comes to projects. I have these doldrums every now and then, but quickly snap out of them when I receive new yarn. Yarn, yummy wonderful yarn ~ I think I’ll totally addicted!
I just received my shipment of Katia yarn in Mexico ~ yellow, gold, orange, blue ~ and I can’t wait to start my Mountain Shades sweater by DanDoh. I decided to try this yarn instead of the Universal Yarns that was chosen specifically for this pattern. I think the colors will be great and I hope to find southwestern style buttons to make it exactly like I want it to look. I really can’t wait to get started but alas I have a baby blanket to knit before I even think about this project, not to mention the scarf I want to knit and submit for the Aslan contest. I still believe there’s simply not enough time in the day, week, month or year to get all your knitting projects completed, especially those that you truly want to do.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day and happy knitting!
I just purchased two skeins of Aslan Trends “Artsenal” yarn, one in Terracotta and one in Rafia, for a scarf that I am currently designing using cables and noticed that Aslan Trends is holding a 2009 Knitting Challenge (a.k.a. contest). What fun ~ you can be as creative as you want using their yarns and send in your item to be judged. If you are the lucky winner, they will photograph the winning garment, return the original to the owner, and the first place winning garments will be duplicated by Aslan Trends and donated to the Myeloma Foundation auction.
From a quote on their website “The ASLANTRENDS KNITTING CHALLENGE creates wonderful opportunities for Knitters to express their creativity and share their talents with the rest of the Knitting world. As a company, the competition allows ASLANTRENDS the opportunity to witness firsthand the diverse wealth of ideas and methods by which our yarns can be utilized by the Knitter. We encourage all of you to take part: novice or advanced. The goal is to have fun and share in an inspiring creative event!”
Let’s be creative knitters and send them lots of entries to judge!
Happy knitting!
