Let the sorting begin…..

30 04 2009

And the sorting hat say, “Hufflepuff”!

I was just sorted into my house for the Harry Potter Knitting and Crochet House Cup (aka HPKCHC) on Ravelry.  I’m so excited and this will be so much fun. I can’t wait for our first term to begin and as a first year, I’m very anxious.  It’s really lots of fun meeting others that love the world of Harry Potter.  There’s so much sharing ~ knitting, ideas, books, movies, etc…. you name it, it’s discussed.  We are all waiting on the release of the Half Blood Prince.   I’ve been so amazed since I’ve joined three of the Harry Potter KAls that women are drawn in from all over the world.  It’s a great way to unite and meet others that share the same passion as I do, the passion of knitting!

Happy knitting!

Winding yarn

29 04 2009

I was very busy winding several balls of yarn, a rather old fashion way, when my hubby got home from work.  As I continued winding, he sat down in his chair with a beer and started watching me.  “You know,” he suddenly said, “We could hook up your yarn winder to our electric and possibly generate enough power to light the house.”  What was he trying to imply, that I had a lot of yarn that required winding???  Hmmm…. well, I guess that I do and tonight seemed to be a good night to get it done.

I’m anxiously waiting to start my Fawkes Socks for the May project of the Harry Potter Crafters KAL and decided to get my sock yarn ready for a weekend of sock knitting.  Oh…. I love Jennifer’s yarn and I can’t wait to see how my socks turn out.  It is so soft and the colors are truly fantastic.  It’s going to be a great month of sock knitting indeed!

I finished another hat to place in my Etsy shop and started hat number 4.  I’m  patiently waiting for my new labels to arrive so I can get them listed.  Can’t wait to see what response I get.

Happy knitting to all, and to all a good knitting night!

Yarn has arrived!

25 04 2009

I was so thrilled when I opened up my mail box this afternoon to see packages of yarn, especially from Dreamscape Threads!  I purchased Jennifer’s sock yarn in the Great Masters Collection – Starry Night by VanGogh.  This yarn is going to be just perfect for the May KAL for Fawkes Socks.  The colors are fantastic and the yarn is so very soft. I’m so excited!!!!  Check out her latest yarn in for the Birthstone Collection, as well as the Great Masters !

I also received more Rowan Cashsoft from Jimmy Bean Wools.  I’m getting ready to knit up a storm and will be  placing hats in my Etsy shop.  As soon as I receive my labels for the hats, I’ll be set to go.

Enjoy your day and Happy Knitting!

Lavender Cables Hat

21 04 2009

Inspired by my beautiful lavender plants that are in full bloom in my back yard, I created my hat.  So, here’s photos of my latest hat!  I posted the pattern on Etsy and on Ravelry ~ you can buy on Ravelry by clicking on the button below.  I’m very happy with this hat and it turned out great.  The crown turned out perfect and looks like a flower, which I’m afraid my photo doesn’t show too well.  I’m currently knitting a this pattern using Rowan’s Cashsoft that will be posted on Etsy for sale.

Happy knitting to all!

Creation of my "Lavender Cables" Hat

20 04 2009

I just finished creating a knitted cable and eyelet hat that I will soon be posting in my shop on Ravelry and Etsy.  It turned out perfect and I love how Rowan’s Tapestry yarn knits up ~ the colorway I used reminds me of lavender, hence the name “Lavender Cables”.  I used two variations of cables and included eyelets.  As soon as photos are taken, it will be posted for sell in both shops.

Happy knitting ~

Painted Cables Scarf Pattern

19 04 2009

I’m thrilled to announce that my “Painted Cables” scarf pattern is officially for purchase on Ravelry.   This is very exciting to me and I wanted to share with everyone that is reading my post today.  When I saw this particular colorway of Noro’s Silk Garden yarn I immediately bought several skeins.  The colors of this yarn  reminded me of our  Arizona sunsets, which in turn inspired me to create this scarf.   Many people have been expressing interest in this pattern I truly appreciate your patience and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

On that note,  enjoy your day and happy knitting!

Hermoines Cable & Bobble Mittens

17 04 2009

I just finished my 3rd KAL project for the Harry Potter Crafters on Ravelry.  This was my first attempt at mittens and they turned out pretty good.  I did notice a slight error in my left mitten though.  I made an error in the left thumb increase and was reading the instructionsfor the right mitten.  It’s only noticeable when you were the mittens side my side and show the palms up.  I’m ready to knit another pair.  My hubby was kind enough to take photos for me to show them off.  Coming up in May for our KAL is Fawkes Socks.  This will be a challenge, which I’m looking forward too.  I must say the support in the Ravelry community is phenomenal and everyone helps out during the KALs ~ it’s encouraging.

Happy knitting ~

Harry Potter Crafters 3rd KAL & New Yarn

15 04 2009

I just finished the left mitten in the Hermione’s Cable & Bobble pattern from Charmed knits for my KAL.  It turned out perfect and I’ve started the right mitten this evening.  I love this pattern and my Mom was eying the hat already, so it the hat and mittens may be her Christmas/Birthday (she’s a Christmas baby)gift this year.  This KAL has been by far the most fun I’ve had in a long time and I also joined two other Harry Potter groups, Harry Potter Loving Crafters and Harry Potter Knitting &  Crochet House Cup.

I was excited when I opened our mailbox today and discovered I received my purchase from Farmgirl Chic.  I purchased 1 skein of Persimmon Tree Hand Dyed Pot Luck Yarn (55% Mohair 45% Wool) in Woodlands.  This yarn is beautiful and will make a great hat!  Check out her yarn on Etsy and Ebay.  The color of this yarn is beautiful, even my husband liked it!

Happy Knitting!

The Sorting Hat Says……

14 04 2009

The sorting hat says that I belong in Hufflepuff!

Said Hufflepuff, “I’ll teach the lot, and treat them just the same.”

Hufflepuff students are friendly, fair-minded, modest, and hard-working. A well-known member was Cedric Diggory, who represented Hogwarts in the most recent Triwizard Tournament.

I can’t believe that I’m not a Gryffindor! I just joined another KAL on Ravelry and they had a link for finding your Hogwarts House. If you’re a Harry Potter fan like me, you must check it out!

Happy Knitting!

Knitting Mittens

13 04 2009

mittens-1I’ve started project 3 of our Harry Potter KAL ~ Hermione’s Cable & Bobble mittens.  Once I read, and re-read the pattern, I think they’re going to be a piece of cake to knit.  I’m hoping to get the first mitten completed this week.  I’m really enjoying this KAL and it’s great meeting others all over the US, and abroad.  There are some dynamite knitters!

I’m getting ready to wind my skein of Aslantrends “Artesanal” yarn to start my project for their contest.  I’ve got a great idea and hope that it turns out good.

Happy knitting!
