Good morning Arizona!

31 05 2009

Sunrise at 5:15 a.m. ~ Buckeye, Arizona

I love Arizona sunrises and not one is ever the same.  As the sun begins to rise, the colors of the sky magically changes, like an artist stroking a brush of paint onto a canvas.  They are breath taking indeed and my camera does not do justice to the brilliance of the colors.  Hubby and I enjoy our mornings on our back porch, sipping coffee, listening to the birds sing in our trees and watch the sun slowly rise and peak out over the horizon.  Simply a wonderful way to start the day!

Perfect day!

22 05 2009

The desert is soaking up the rain this morning and it smells so good outside.  It’s truly hard to explain how the desert smells before and after it rains ~ it smells clean and fresh.  Hubby and I sat outside on our porch with a cup of coffee, enjoying the coolness and the pitter patter of rain drops.  I hope it rains most of the day, we truly need it in our parched valley.

I’m so excited to be off today and enjoy time with Don.  We have plans to see the new Star Trek movie today and can’t wait.   Hopefully we’ll be able to try out the new Greek restaurant today too!

I’m working on a hat for my Mom’s friend, Carol.  It is being knitted in Patons Classic Wool in winter white.  I decided to use the Hermione Cable & Eyelet pattern from JL Yarnworks.  I love this pattern, it’s so easy and so feminine.  Should have this project completed by tomorrow and then maybe I can finish up my long forgotten mate to the Fawkes sock KAL on Ravelry.   I swear the unfinished sock that has been sitting on the coffee table staring at me is sending subliminal messages of “knit me, knit me now”!

Happy knitting!

Alpaca Neck Warmer

21 05 2009

I just finished posting my latest pattern ~ Alpaca Neck Warmer ~ on Ravelry and Etsy.  I used Alpaca with a Twist, Baby Twist for this project and a combination of cables that I put together to create this neck warmer.  It incredibly soft and very warm. Can’t wait to wear it this winter when I go visit my parents in the White Mountains.
