Cable Eye Glass Case

21 06 2009

I just finished a fun little project that is perfect for using left over wool yarn, or any other type of yarn for that matter, and is a cable eye glass case.  This pattern is very fast and great for a beginner knitter learning cables.  I just posted the pattern on Ravelry and you can visit my “Pattern” page for purchasing.  Happy knitting~

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

21 06 2009

July 15th is just around the corner and I can’t wait to see this movie!

It’s time for a little Harry Potter knitting – think I need to knit a hat, scarf and mittens.  Ahhh… but what to wear to the HP movie as it’s the middle of summer and very hot in Phoenix????

Maybe Gilly Weed Socks by Rosemary Waits …. Hmmm, better get to knitting!

Milestones, Craftlit and Cast On

16 06 2009

I’m so thrilled to report that as of today, I’ve had 2,500 hits on Examiner.com – knitters actually reading my articles – and 4,000 hits on my blog – that you are currently reading.  It’s amazing to me that people search you out, happen upon you and actually follow the every day events in your life of knitting.  Thank you to all that follow my writing on Examiner and follow my blog.

Two things I found this week that has turned out to be refreshing and lots of fun.  One, Craftlit, a website that host free  podcasts for crafters who love to read and second, Cast On, a website dedicated to knitters that provides information via podcasts.

It has been fun listening to audio books with a great narration by Heather Ordover of Craftlit.  Listening to the Scartlett Letter has been very refreshing and now I want to actually sit down and read the book.

Cast On is a bi-monthly audio program about knitting, and life. The companion website is updated weekly.

“Cast On was founded on a firm belief that our memories, thoughts, hopes and dreams are knit into the fabric we create, and so become part of the fabric of our lives.  Just as each knitted piece has its own story to tell, so too do their makers. Since 2005 we have enlisted some of the world’s best knitters and writers to bring those stories to you. Packed with a rich assortment of features, together the Cast On website and podcast represent the paradigm-shifting notion that knitting matters.” ~ from the Cast-On website.  This says it all and I love their site.

Pick up your needles, your yarn and relax to a podcast.  Happy knitting!

Wool Festival

6 06 2009

I had a great time today at the 18th annual Wool Festival in Flagstaff.  Don and I enjoyed our time together and with my parents, who met us there.  I was able to meet all kinds a great gals, who were showing off their yarn, fleece and spinning.   I got to purchase my first hand spindle, Alpaca fleece and Alpaca yarn.  Hubby was great in my purchases ~ “Make sure you buy what ever you want too” – was his exact words.

There’s so many photos to share, that I’ve decided just to create a link to my FaceBook page for visitors to view.  So hope you enjoy!

Fiber Festival

3 06 2009

I’m so looking forward to this coming Saturday.  We’re escaping the heat of Phoenix and driving north to Flagstaff to enjoy their 18th Wool Festival.  I’ve never been to a wool festival and hope this will be as fun as I anticipate.  My parents are planning to meet us there too and join us for a 1/2 day of fun ~ I can’t wait to see the sheep shearing, the Navajo weaving and all the vendors.

It’s been a very busy week for me and I’ve found myself almost too tired to knit in the evenings.  I’m trying to finish a scarf that I’m knitting in Araucania’s Ruca and get the pattern posted on Ravelry and in my Etsy shop.  It’s quite lovely and it’s a perfect summer scarf or a scarf for dressing up an outfit.  I hope to be finished by the weekend!!!!

Happy knitting!
