Wednesday’s Pattern – The Crossover Cardi

Today’s featured pattern is the Crossover Cardi by Maria of Elegant Economy Designs .   Knitted in one octagonal shaped piece that is worked primarily in stockinette, this design has a reversible cabled border, a shawl like collar and only one seam, making this a super quick and easy project.

Designed in multiples sizes from x-small to a size 3x-large with finished bust sizes that range from 31.50″ to 50″, this project will require approximately 750 to 1900 yards of Berroco Remix  (or any worsted weight yarn to meet the gauge of 12 sts and 16 rows to equal 3 inches in Stockinette), a size US 8 (5.0mm)  40″circular needle, a size US 9 US (5.5mm) straight needle or DPN and 2 to 3 size 10 snaps.  This pattern offers written instructions along with a chart for the cable design.

The Crossover Cardi is the perfect layering piece for your wardrobe that can be can be worn with a belt, a pin, a button or can be worn open.  Whatever way you decide to wear it, it will add an extra layer of warmth on chilly days.

It is knit up in Berroco Remix, a yarn I’ve fallen madly in love with for fall
and spring knitting. For one, it’s completely recycled, which just makes me
happy to know I’m helping to steward the earth’s resources well. Secondly, the
fiber blend is unusual but wonderful. Cotton, acrylic, silk, nylon and linen
combine to create a worsted weight yarn that adds warmth without feeling overly
bundled up and wintery, which is exactly what you want this time of year. At
$10/100g ball, it’s reasonably priced for the fiber content, and is knit up into
this cardigan which is a remarkably versatile addition to your spring wardrobe.
