I joined the Ravelry Group, 12 Shawls in 2012 the first part of this year but I’m slightly behind so I decided the month of May was the perfect month to catch up a bit and knit at least two small shawls.
I love quick projects and this past week I casted on Arroyo by Sarah H. Wolf using my stash yarn of Wisdom Yarns in Poems, a very light fingering weight sock yarn. This took me a total of five days, including the time for blocking. If you are a beginner lace knitter, this is a very easy pattern and would be perfect for you to try.
Pattern: Arroyo
Yarn: Wisdom Yarns Poems Sock in Ivy Trails.
Needles: US 4 (3.5 mm)
Modifications: I added beads on rows 10, 18, and 26 of the lace pattern, and I added an eyelet row at the very end before binding off.
Start Date: May 23, 2012
End Date: May 28, 2012

This will look great as a scarf for this fall!
Showing a close up with the beads.
I’m looking forward to wearing this as a scarf this fall and can’t wait! This evening I’m casting on a beautiful project, the Double Leaf Saroyan by Liz Abinante and I’ll be using my stash of Malabrigo Rios in the colorway of Zarzamora. This will be another quick knit project that I should be done with in less than two weeks!
What quick knit lace projects do you enjoy?
Until next time, happy knitting, crocheting, spinning and crafting!

I LOVE it and the bead are the perfect touch. The Double Leaf Saroyan is gorgeous as well.
I’m hoping to knit Liz’s Saroyan this summer (maybe for the Ravelympics) because I honestly don’t think there is such a thing as having too many pretty lace shawls. he he he
Thank you so much Simone and I was quite happy with the way the beads look on it … just enough without going over board. I agree, one can never not have too many shawls, especially lace ones
I’ve done a few shawls which I’ve enjoyed. None of them were particularly quick but I’m not a fast knitter.
One I’ve knit three times is also by Liz and that is ‘Travelling Woman’.
The other two are by Stephen West. One is ‘Gyllis’ and the other is ‘Spectra’.
Spectra is easy and you wouldn’t necessarily have to make it as long with all of the repeats stated in the pattern.
Gylis takes a bit more focus, at least until you ‘get’ the pattern.
I’ve wanted to knit Travelling Woman for a very long while and think that might be the next one I do. I love your Gyllis and Spectra Bonny … Stephen’s patterns are always so great and unique

Well.. that would imply that I’ve knitted with lace before, which I haven’t. But if you have any suggestions, please let me know. I’d be happy to cast something on, and tackle the project. I’ve crocheted many lace projects, but so far none with knitting. Which is odd, now that I think of it, since I’ve been knitting for 33 years, and learned to crochet in December 2011.
Currently I’m working on a shawl for a local homeless shelter. As I was working on it last evening, I realized that my father could use a scarf. He’s been using the same boring scarf for the past fifteen years. It’s a bit thin, so I’m sure he’d love a thick scarf, especially since he likes puttering around outside when it’s cold. I’m thinking I’ll use a chunky yarn, and a larger knitting needle. Perhaps a size 15?
I discovered your site a few moments ago. I must say, that I’m enjoying my visit. I’ll be back.
Thank you for visiting and how wonderful that you’re knitting for your local homeless shelter ! I love crochet and that’s what I learned many years ago and haven’t really gone back to it … I really must
By the way, I love the scarf you’ve created; excellent work!
Thank you so very much
