Thank you so much Lori and I'm pleased you enjoyed my post last week. Thank you too for such a lovely comment and for sharing. I agree, it really is a balance between aesthetics and value, but I think also it has a little something to do with the project we are knitting and for the person we are giving the finished project to. I just viewed your Ravelry page, my goodness you are such a fantastic knitter! :)

your sweater is gorgeous tina, i just love the color you chose to make the v.l. in. i love badlands. i wanted to tell you i really loved your post yarn snob. i could have written the same thing. its a thrilling time to be a knitter these days, with knitting coming into it's own (finally!). i've knit for most of my life and for many of those years the choices of wool and patterns was slim to none. i do love the beautiful wools available now, and most of the time thats all i want to knit with (after knitting with a lot of unbeautiful yarn when there wasn't a choice). but your right, patons, kroy, lion's brand, companys like these make some lovely yarns and so afforably priced. luckily i was reminded of this (and humbled at the same time).

last year i went to nyc, to become a certified knitting instructor at the fashion institute of technology. after class one day a few of the ladies asked if i'd like to go yarn shopping (they were from manhattan and knew the shops). yes! of course! i assumed we would go to purl or string or knit city, one of the beautiful shops with beautiful wool. they said they liked to go to lion brand on 15th street. good wool, good price. i was surprised and delighted.

i am making a pi shawl of jared floods right now, out of lion brand fishermans wool (for a gift). and it's funny, but i have noticed a look from other knitters, not understanding why i would use such unsnobby yarn. i'm pretty pleased with the l.b.y. for it's appearance and value, but i also can't wait to make it again in jareds wool, loft. it's a balance i guess between asthetics and value. and i'm so sorry for leaving such a loooong comment!

Sometimes you just have to find the time to enjoy a good book Karen. I tend to read about an hour or two before bed each night, that's one reason it takes me a bit to finish books. I've not heard of the trilogy you mentioned, what's it about?

I look forward to seeing photos of your Color Affection. That design seems to be quite popular! I love a book that grabs your attention to the point you can't put down and the series you're reading appears to be that way. Thank you so much and I look forward to finishing it so I can wear it :)
