Today’s photos are not the best but since it’s raining this morning (hurray for rain), I’ve had to take photos indoors. So, sorry for the not so good color, etc.
It’s been a good week for me and I feel like I’ve managed to get a few things accomplished. I’ve very excited that I’ve been able to work on my beloved Vodka Lemonade cardigan and have made huge progress. If I keep up my knitting, I will be about 3/4 complete, which is a huge step for me! I will be starting the Fantasia Mystery Shawl KAL this evening and have my yarn caked and ready to go. I’ve read over the first clue and I think this will be a fun knit and I can’t wait to get started.
As mentioned in an earlier post, I’ve been exploring embroidery again and recently purchased a vintage crewel kit. I love the colors and the simple pattern, which I can’t wait to get started on. I also ordered a lovely array of Appleton Wool for a future crewel project that will most likely end up being a pillow.
I’ve also joined the Book of the Month Club, couldn’t resist the current deal, and got in three new books that I look forward to reading soon. I just finished the Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde, which was a fun read and quite a time traveling adventure, and will be starting Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati. I was tickled to pick up this book, plus the next two in the series from Thriftbooks.com for not very much and all three of them were practically brand new. I do love my bargains
- Death Comes to Pemberley by P.D. James
- Changling by Philippa Gregory
- The House of Velvet and Glass by Katherine Howe
- Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati
Other things happening, well I’ve started Zumba, which is fun but I’m still trying to memorize the dance steps and get a bit more coordinated. My goodness I’m sore and I’ve found muscles I didn’t know I had. I’ve also started a diet and have been watching what I eat and I can honestly say, this week I really feel good with the two small changes I’ve made – diet and exercise works wonders.
I tried a new recipe from Elana’s Pantry called Date Walnut Bars. This recipe is super quick and easy, and the finished bars are yummy. I cut pieces into bite size portions, which for me is just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. My husband even liked them, which made me very happy. If you like dates, this is a great recipe and it’s 100% gluten free.
That wraps up the week. I hope all of you have had a great week and are looking forward to the weekend.
Until next time, happy knitting, crocheting, and crafting!

Hi Tina. Had to laugh when I saw the Crewel wool. Mine came through the door last week from Appleton. Are you sure that you are not my lost twin sister…..? It looks like you are going to be having great fun over the next few weeks. I look forward to photos.
How funny is that!!! I think we must have been separated at birth Els
I’m so excited to try the Appleton and found a shop online that also sells on eBay, called the Wooly Thread …. here’s the eBay link too. I look forward to your photos too!
I am planning some postcard tapestry weaving with mine but have blankk page fear at the moment!!
That sounds interesting and I can’t wait to see, and hear more about it !
