It’s finally finished!

I can’t believe I’m actually saying this, but I finished my Vodka Lemonade yesterday!!!

I started this project May 1st for MadMay2012 in the MadelineTosh Lovers Ravelry Group and four months later, I’m finally finished!  Yes, I’m doing a happy dance and for some reason this was a long WIP for me but I have to say, it feels good to finally be done.

Facts:  I made three modifications.  I added two extra stitches at the under arm area for a bit more room for a total of 4 stitches.  I also decided not to include the lace insert for the back of the sweater and opted for a more staggered look for lace insert  on each side of the front.   I also choice short sleeves over the three quarter sleeves, which is a better fit for me.

Yarn:   4 full skeins of MadelineTosh 80/10/10 Sport, a blend of 80% Merino, 10% Nylon and 10% Cashmere, in the color Badlands and approximately 55 yards from a fifth skein.

Needles:  I used a 24″ circular needle in size US 6 (4.0 mm)

Now it’s time to cast on a sweater for my Mom.  I’ve mentioned what I was planning in a past post, but I’ve officially decided to knit my Mom the Sketchbook Cardigan by Lion Brand, a simple and classic raglan sleeve cardigan that I know she will love.   For this project I will be using  yarn in my stash, which is eight skeins of Plymouth Encore in the colorway Grape Jam.

  1. It came out great! I love the colorway.

  2. Your new cardi is gorgeous! Doesn’t it feel exhilarating to finish a project that you’ve been working on for quite a while? Congrats and I know you’ll be enjoying your new sweater :-)

Congrats on finishing! I’m also one that prefers shorter sleeves.

    • Thank you Cindy :) I love shorter sleeves for various reasons, the main reason though, I love to layer with cotton tee shirts that are often have three quarter sleeves.

      • I just hate having anything completely down to my wrists. Maybe because most store bought things tend to end up short, but if they are long, I am pushing them up to my elbows anyway, so why bother.

      • LOL … I do that too! My issue if store bought, sleeves are always way to long on me. I love knitting my own stuff, that gives me the ability to create sleeves any length I choose :)

  4. Wonderful! Love the yarn, love the pattern.I have Encore Tweed and like knitting with it. 8-)

Your sweater looks lovely. I just drooled over the color of the Encore Tweed! Your Mom will be thrilled, I’m sure.

  6. Lovely! And congrats on finishing it. I spent the holiday knitting beaded ropes that can be necklaces or bracelets. It was fun!

  7. Oh my! It’s beautiful! M Tosh yarns look so amazing. Someday I’ll make a project with them.
Best of luck with the new cardigan. :)
