Yarn Along: Knitting With a Bit of Reading!

Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well.  So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?  ~ Ginny from Small Things

I’m still reading  Catching Fire  by Suzanne Collins but will be finishing it up tonight or at least by tomorrow.  I’m not quite sure what I want to read next but I’m leaning towards Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati or maybe The House of Velvet and Glass by Katherine Howe.

As far as knitting is concerned, I’ve started my second Mystery Kal, the Myrtle Mystery KAL by Mia Rinde.  I’ve opted to use fingering weight yarn from my stash (Liberty’s Yarn Sockingbird) for this project in place of lace weight.  No matter how much I love the colors of all the gorgeous lace yarns out there, it’s just to tiny to work with for me.  I’ve started a project page on Ravelry and have knitted almost the first repeat of the clue provided.  I hope to be finished with clue 1 so I can start the second clue this coming weekend.

What are you reading and working on?

such a pretty yarn…..I agree some of the lace yarn is so hard to work with! I’m sure your shawl will be lovely!

  2. I agree that lace weight is just too difficult to work with. The yarn pictured is absolutely beautiful, love the subtleness of color. Can’t wait to see it as you knit.

    • Well I must say I’m in good company regarding my thoughts on lace weight yarns :) Thank you so much – it really is a lovely color and almost a soft pumpkin.

  3. The colour of that yarn is sublime – I’ve never heard of a mystery KAL, how intriguing!

  4. What, not Mockingjay next?

  5. What a lovely colour of yarn! Lace is too fiddly for me, too.

  6. Beautiful yarn! I recommend Sara Donati, I LOVE that series!!

    • I’ve heard awesome things about Sara Donati’s series and have the first three of her books. I’m excited to get started with something new and different to read :)

  7. I’m with you, Tina. I just can’t knit with lace weight… Much too thin! That yarn is pretty!
