This coming Monday, September 24th, I will be joining Kelly over on the her blog, Celtic Cast On, as well as a few other knitters, for a fun KAL (knit along) featuring the beautiful and cozy cabled cardigan designed by Cirilia Rose called Aidez.
I’m very excited about knitting this cardigan as it’s been in my Ravelry favorites since the first day the pattern was available. I really wanted to use my stash of Cascade Eco + wool for this project but I only have two skeins and I would need three in order to knit the appropriate size. So, I’ve decided to use instead my stash of Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Grande, a Super Bulky weight yarn that is 100% Alpaca.
I’m thinking I might make this for my Mom using Lion Brand Jiffy in the color Camel. I know a few of you are most likely cringing at the thought of 100% acrylic, but my Mom does not want a wool or wool blend sweater. In fact, she wants something she can just wash in the machine and lay flat to dry.
So with that being said, I’m almost thinking about knitting my Mom’s sweater first and then knitting mine, especially since I will be knitting a small size and will have to modify the length for her tiny frame.
Decisions, decisions, decisions …..

Have any of you knitted Aidez or have it in your Ravelry Queue?

Love it!
Thank you Karen:)
It is a pretty cardigan. It will be interesting to see the differences between the wool and acrylic versions.
It is truly a lovely design and I’m looking forward to knitting them both!
Wonderful sweater! I can’t wait to see pics as you progress.
I think it is too and I’m excited to start it
I think it is beautiful and I have some natural cashmere in the proper weight. For me I think!
I think you should and cashmere would be gorgeous!
It’s been in my queue for a while – can’t wait to see your progress!
Mine too Christina ~ another reason I’m excited about the KAL
Oh man, why does it have to be in Chunky yarn? I’ve been looking for a pattern like this for worsted.
You could think about finding a Ragland cardi pattern that calls for worsted and incorporate the cable design from this pattern. Just a thought
