Yarn Along: Knitting With a Bit of Reading!

Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well.  So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?  ~ Ginny from Small Things

Nothing too new in the area of reading as I’m still enjoying Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati.  I did receive a copy of Carol J. Sulcoski’s new book Sock Yarn Studio for review and what a great book. Stay tuned for a full review, along with a giveaway of the review copy I received !

I’ve finished the body of my Schooner shawl and have started the edging.  Since I only had enough of the Louisa Harding Thistle for the body of the shawl, I opted to edge it in a deep chocolate brown Alpaca, a lovely fiber I purchased from Linda of Blue Moon Ranch a couple of years ago.  It feels good to knit projects that I can use my stash yarn for and I’m really liking the result – a very fall looking shawl!

So, what are you currently working on or reading?

  1. I love that color combination! I think it does a lovely job of letting you see the edging pattern. Can’t wait to see it finished.

  2. Stunning! The color combo is perfect. I love edgings that attach one stitch at a time instead of picking up a zillion stitches along the edge. And alpaca! Yum!

  3. Janet

Very pretty! Love the two colors together.

  4. i really love that brown yarn, so lovely. your shawl is going to be very lovely. can’t wait to see it completed.

  5. That chocolate yarn looks so yummy! And the project is beautiful-love the intricacy in that stitch.

  6. tina your knitting is so lovely, it is truly beautiful. i love your shawl, i haven’t seen this pattern, i’ll have to queue it also. i think knitted on edges are my favorite thing to do in knitting, i love watching the stitches develop as the body of the shawl falls away, already finished, when it’s done, it’s done. it’s going to be so pretty on you!

    • Thank you so much Lori :) I’m really enjoying this project, for some reason it has been very soothing and non-stressing to knit. I have to say I’m loving the knitted edge – it’s super easy and looks great!
