Yarn Along: Work in Progress and Of Course Reading!

Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well.  So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?  ~ Ginny from Small Things

I finished reading Katherine Howe’s The House of Velvet and Glass and while I didn’t think it was a brilliant book, it was enjoyable to read.   I am now currently reading The Map of Time: A Novel  by Felix J. Palma.  The start of this book is very interesting and has captured my adventurous spirit to say the very least.  I look forward to seeing how this book progresses.

Set in Victorian London with characters real and imagined, The Map of Time boasts a triple play of intertwined plots in which a skeptical H.G. Wells is called upon to investigate purported incidents of time travel and to save lives and literary classics, including Dracula and The Time Machine, from being wiped from existence.  What happens if we change history? The author explores this question in the novel, weaving an historical fantasy as imaginative as it is exciting—a story full of love and adventure that transports readers to a haunting setting in Victorian London for their own taste of time travel. ~ Goodreads.com

I’m still working on my Top Down Swing Pullover designed by Diane Soucy and have to say I really love this simple pattern.  I’m just about to the end of the body of the sweater and will soon be starting the 1 x 1 ribbing.   Then I can work on the sleeves!  I truly hope to have this sweater finished soon so I can at least wear it before it gets to warm here in Phoenix.

So what are you reading or listening too?  What’s on your needles or hook?

Always good to have new book suggestions! I only wish I could do both at the same time, like I remember from an old Jetson Family comic. (now, I wonder why I kept that memory in my head for nearly 40 years!)

  2. Right now I am finishing work on a vintage lace head scarf, and have just finished reading a Robert A.Heinlein book of short stories, which proved to be rather disappointing. So now I must look for my next book. Maybe a Dean Koontz. I believe I have one yet to read. LOL

The knitting soothes my inner being, the reading feeds my mind. :)

    • I love you words Sandie “The knitting soothes my inner being, the reading feeds my mind” and I feel much the same way :) I love Dean Koontz and I’m sure you’ll find one to read. Ohhhh… a vintage lace head scarf sound lovely :)

Two “new-to-me” books to check out. Your pullover looks lovely. I’ve just started the Low Tide Cardigan and hope to have it finished in February.

    • Oh that’s awesome Janet ~ I hope you like them :) Thank you so much, I’m looking forward to wearing it soon. The Low Tide looks like a great knit that I might have to add to my must knits.

  4. I thought that book looked good too. Interested to see what you think once you’ve finished it. I’ve been reworking some of my old patterns – lots of note taking! I’ve started reading Flow by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi for a book club, I think it will be good for a fresh perspective on the new year.

    • So far it’s good Liz and I’ll let you know what I think about it. You’ve been quite busy on your knitting and I look forward to seeing what you are re-working. Your book sounds interesting, I’ll have to check it out :)

  5. Q – Love the new look! I’m ready with new goals too!

  6. Oh, that sweater looks amazing. I can definitely see “denim.”
I’m working on a pair of socks for my Dad as well as my Rocky Coast cardigan. (I had to rip about four inches of work. I was about seven inches in. Instead of getting upset, I’m choosing to be excited that I figured out how to rip back and pick up my stitches—instead of having to frog the whole thing and starting over completely!)

    • That you Liesl, I think it will be perfect to wear with jeans :) . I love your postitve attitude towards your cardi project for your Dad – good for you and it’s wonderful that you do not have to start all over!

Happy new year, Tina! Loving the new look – what a great way to start the year :)
