Yarn Along: Work in Progress and Of Course Reading!

Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well.  So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?  ~ Ginny from Small Things

I’m still reading The Map of Time: A Novel  by Felix J. Palma but I’m nearing the end. Hopefully I will be able to finish this book soon as I want to read the sequel.  Yesterday I received a book I ordered, Interweave Crochet: A Collection of Our Favorite Designs, and have found several projects that I want to crochet some time this year.

On the needles is the TTL Mystery Socks 2013  by Kirsten Kapur.  I have opted to do stockinette for the foot in place of the leaf design and I rather like the results.  I’m hoping to finish this sock so I can get the mate done soon.  I’m also casting on  Business Casual socks designed by Tanis Lavallee today, and still working on Lover’s Knot designed  by Sandi Rosner .  Yes, I’m on a sock knitting whim at the moment!

So, what are you reading or listening too?

Are you enjoying new knitting or crocheting projects?

  1. I just finished knitting an ear flap hat I was revising and got in a book on Brioche knitting – I”m going to get into that tonight and work up some sample swatches. I’m also reading Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman by Robert K. Massie. I’m really enjoying it so far.

  2. SO glad you asked because I was up til 2 a.m. last night reading a book I am really loving – “Seven Locks” by Christine Wade. It is historical fiction (not romance) about a Dutch woman in Revolutionary NY whose husband seems to abandon her and her two children. The repercussions of his disappearance – he walks off in anger and a body is never found – grow over the years in her relationships with her son and daughter and most ominously with the townspeople. I am halfway thru and really admire the writing and I read with a sense of suspense and dread. And I’m knitting the Lace Sampler Shawl from “Victorian Lace Today” by Jane Sowerby because I am leading a year-long knit along of 11 students at our LYS.

  3. I’ve got the same mystery sock on my needles too, just got the heel turn done on my first one, and have also cast on the Business Casual sock for my husband. Gotta get knitting to get them all finished in time, my reading is not happening as much as a result, but when I am reading it’s Anne McCaffrey’s Dragon Series.

  4. Oh I am loving that sock pattern! The color is also something that would go lovely with my current wardrobe :) Beautiful!!

  5. That sock looks yummy!! I am going to have to get more fiber to spin for some socks with more intricate patterns. This one is making me drool, lol.

  6. Yay for sock knitting binges! It means lots of cozy new socks to wear :-D I’ve been on a bit of a knitting binge myself … each time I finish a West Knits shawl, I find another that I have to cast on for right away. I’m completely hooked! :-D

    • I’ve noticed you’ve been knitting quite a few of West Knit designs lately, they are truly gorgeous in your handspun. I’m having fun with my sock knitting and it gives me variety :)
