Yarn Along: Work in Progress and Of Course Reading!

Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well.  So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?  ~ Ginny from Small Things

I’m so happy to report that I’m almost done with  The Map of Time: A Novel  by Felix J. Palma!!!  I really have been enjoying this book and look forward to the sequel.  I just received two new books to add to my on going collection to read, one is a reprint of Jean Plaidy’s Catherine de’ Medici Trilogy,  The Italian Woman and the other The Third Gate by Lincoln Child.  I’m looking forward to reading a few new books.

On the needles and the hook, I’m finishing up the mate to my mystery sock  KAL and finishing up the border to my crocheted afghan.  I’m hoping to have both of these projects completed by the weekend so I can move onto a fun KAL over at the Celtic Cast On ,   Business Casual Socks!

Ahh… so many WIPs and so little time to finish them :)

What have you been reading or listening too ?

Are you working on knitting, crocheting or spinning projects this week?

  1. The socks and afghan are looking great. Those colors worked out really nicely. I’m still reading Catherine the Great, but want to finish it soon! I’m also working on a baby blanket for a friend, her shower is next month. Its my first Brioche knitting project and it really like the way its turning out.

  2. What a pretty sock pattern! And the yarn color is subtle, but so pretty!

  3. Your cruising right along on your WIPs. Your afghan is beautiful!

  4. I’ve recently started reading “The Friday Night Knitting Club” by Kate Jacobs. I’m throughly enjoying this book, its the first books I’ve read in a long, long time. I’ve been knitting on socks lately and finished 1 pair and I’m almost finished with a second pair. I also have a shawl that I’m knitting on as well.

  5. I still haven’t finished The Map fo Time, because I got sidetracked to Mary Roach’s Packing for Mars. It’s absolutely hysterical, and all non-fiction. I like it so much, I requested another of her books from the library. Still plugging away on my “fruit-salad” socks — turned heel #2!! — and my Dad’s Cenote socks in the Steelers colorway. I’m about 1/4″ from starting the heel of the first one. Now if I can just resist the call of the piles of books in the living room (did I mention I ordered some books from Knit Picks?)….

    • Now that sounds like a fun read! I’m still plugging away at the Map of Time too but hope to finish soon – it seems to have picked up and it’s keeping my interest. I think January and February must be sock knitting months, I look forward to seeing your projects. Oh good for you in getting more books too :)

The colors in your afghan are beautiful together. So pretty! Business casual is a nice pattern — on my list for this year too.

  7. I see you are moving right along. That is wonderful news! The socks are really looking lovely too. Looking forward to seeing both socks and blanket, when you are finished. :)

  8. Those socks are looking beautiful. I hope to get a little lighter-weight sock yarn to make some pretty socks soon!
For right now, I finished one of my ‘secret’ projects and am starting up a second one.

  9. Oh my, I love the way those colors came together on your Granny Square Afghan!

Oohhh socks! That is one of my knitting goals this year! But you know how sloooowly I knit! It will probably take me five years to do a pair of socks – haha! Your knitting is always so beautiful and inspiring!

  11. your socks are so pretty, i’m feeling inspired to perhaps make a pair too tina!

  12. Q – Nice sock! But, my eyes are totally drawn to your crochet blanket! Super wonderful!
