Yarn Along: Work in Progress and Of Course Reading!

Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well.  So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?  ~ Ginny from Small Things

It’s been rather slow going in the knitting department as my elbow issue is still giving me fits  but I can say that I’m still knitting on my  Lyme Regis Scarf and I started a new project, the Cottonista Triangle Shawl from the kit I received from Fiesta Yarns.  Both projects have been very soothing to me and the patterns truly are easy to memorize.

I’ve also been spinning more so I can give my tendonitis a break.  For some reason spinning seems to make my arm and elbow feel better, which is a good thing.  I finished 4 oz of  Mixed Blueface Leicester spinning fiber in the colorway called  Driftwood and have started spinning the second 4 oz yesterday.  I love the tweedy colors of the fiber and I’m anxious to get it plied!

I’m just about finished my book,  The Third Gate by Lincoln Child, and really love it!  It really is a fast moving book and would be a super quick read if I just sat down and read it.  I’m not sure what my next book might be …. too many on the bookshelf to choose from!

So, what have you been working on this week?  Have you been reading,  or listening,  to any good books?

  1. Both of your knitting projects are coming along quite nicely, and looking very good too! I agree with you on the tweedy look of your homespun too, very nice indeed. I’m looking forward to seeing the “finished product.” I have no doubt it will be lovely indeed.

I’ve started another Dean Koontz novel, which is moving along nicely, just finished my knit tunic and will be weaving all the ends in today, and about to begin the 2013 Spring Mystery Shawl KAL come Saturday. On the spinning front, I had to stop. Where your elbow does well with it, I must have spent too much time on it, because my arm has been really bad. So I was forced to let up on the spinning for a couple days at least. I won’t stay idle for long. I’m too anxious to get back to it. LOL

    Have a wonderful day :)

    • Thank you so much Sandie! I just finished another 2 oz of my fiber and have 2 oz to go, I’m having a good time spinning again :) Oh, I’m so sorry to hear about your arm, take it easy and take good care of yourself. I look forward to hearing about your shawl KAL.

  2. Sorry about the elbow problems, I know it is hard to take a break from knitting. Hope for you that your elbow will be healed very soon!

  3. Wendi

Gosh, that’s too bad you continue to have problems with that elbow. :( Boo to broken down body parts.
Your knitting & spinning projects are looking great!
I’m listening to an audio book called, “Area 51″, by Annie Jacobsen. It’s quite thought provoking!

    • Interesting audio book Wen. Did you get it from Audible? I started listening to the Forgotten Garden this morning while I was spinning ~ really good. Thank you too… my elbow will get better, I just need to rest it for a while :)

      • Wendi

No, I checked it out from the library system.
I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t knit. I’m really glad you have found something to keep those hands busy. :) ~xoxo

      • Me too Wen and I’ll have to check out the audio book :)

  4. Janet

Yarns in both your projects are lovely and they’re coming along nicely. Sorry your elbow is giving problems again. Love the spinning.

  5. My knitting is mostly taken up with my giant Victorian Lace Shawl for a year for a class I am teaching. But reading! Just got done listening to “Brideshead Revisited” by Evelyn Waugh and red by Jeremy Irons. Saw the Masterpiece version multiple times, but never made it all the way through the book. Could not stop listening – Irons channels all his fellow actors from the series in this reading. And dead-tree reading “The Fault in Our Stars” by John Green. VERY GOOD, tho teenagers don’t really talk like that. Have a feeling it’s going to be a weeper – two main characters have cancer.

    • Oh I’ve wanted to read Brideshead Revisited. Sounds like you’re enjoying it and now I will have to get the audio book, love Jeremy Irons :) As always, great books!

  6. I also switch between knitting and spinning to ease aches in my body. I am spinning up BFL as well, a sky blue, woolen. Your BFL looks great, I love the tweed.

  7. I hate when I get Knitter’s Elbow. Take it eay and I hope you get back to your knitting soon.

  8. your knits look so pretty tina, but i do hope you feel better soon!

  9. Jayne Anne

i’ve read some of the books you read and enjoyed them very much. so, i might suggest The Art Forger by BA Shapiro. a fast read and hard to put down until the end.

  10. Renee

Glad to hear the spinning is helping your elbow feel better :) Now that’s a good system, eh? Knitting and spinning :) Enjoy!

  11. Just coasting down your photos…Whatever that is on your wheel is making my mouth water. I’d better go back and read what that scrumptiousness is…Yummy!
