A Little Bit Of Testing Knitting

I recently finished test knitting a reversible cowl designed by Grace Yoon called Pine Tree Place  .

Short or long, this reversible and textured cowl is a nice mix between stockinette and garter.  A play on chevrons and arrows, you never have to worry about this cowl being inside out. ~ Grace

This highly textured design offers knitters three sizes to choose to from (small, medium and large) and only requires 200 to 600 yards of worsted weight yarn. Grace provides very well written step by step instructions, as well as a chart for those of you who prefer to follow a chart, and I would say this is good for all levels of knitting experience.

So for my portion of the test knit, I decided to knit the large, which requires a total of 600 yards of worsted weight yarn.  After letting Grace know I would love to test knit this size, I realized after the fact I did not have that much yardage so I only ended up knitting four repeats of the pattern design.

I used my remaining 5 skeins of Elsebeth Lavold Cotton Cable in the color Straw and ended up with a cowl measuring 5 1/2” x 36” in length.  Due to this length, my finished cowl can be worn several different ways, which I really love!

Wrapped Twice around makes a cozy cowl!

If you’re tall, it would be fun to wear just straight.

Fold in half and bring one end through the loop. For an extra touch, add a shawl pin or brooch to hold in place.

Fold in half and wear as a short scarf around your neck.

I really enjoyed knitting this pattern and have to say, not only is Grace’s design perfect for stash busting, but it is super quick and perfect for holiday knitting especially since Christmas is only 4 1/2 months away!

Until next time, happy knitting, crocheting, spinning and crafting!
